Meet the team
Natasha Shields – Owner/Farmgate & Market Sales
Tash started this company with Wayne in 2010. She came from an IT and retail logistics background but quickly became focussed on the Certified Organic produce they were growing and introduced the farm to local Farmers Markets around Melbourne. She was on the AAP (Accreditation Assessment Panel) for the VFMA (8 years) and is also a founding member of FIAB (Food Industry Advisory Body) for the Mornington Peninsula Shire and their new
Provenance Mark, MP Produce. She still sells our produce at Farmers Markets every weekend, as well as managing her new business, @peninsulaorganicfarmgate. She is also a Nuffield 2019 Scholar.
Wayne Shields – Farmer/Owner/Director
Wayne started our farm from scratch in 2008 and has been managing our current business since its inception in 2010. He completed a horticultural apprenticeship in 1990 and has since worked on and managed several large Conventional Farms before moving to Organics. He is currently on the Board of Directors for ACO (Australian Certified Organic) and an active member in Australian Organic Industries Working Group. Wayne is responsible for overseeing our 2 farms, co-ordinating production and directing our farm growth.
Robert Astone – Operations Manager
Robbie has been with our Farm since July 2016. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge from both a growing and retail background. He is responsible for our farm and packing shed operations and co-ordinates all wholesale orders/logistics with a Nation-wide distribution. He is the point of contact for orders and dispatch.
Eddie Hallal – Logistics Manager
Eddie commenced with us in February 2018. He has vast experience in the fresh produce retail sector. He is responsible for the logistics and interstate orders.
The backbone of our field staff are full-time employees, giving us consistent operational methods and quality with no contract labour on site. Our staff are paid above-award wages and have been with us for many years. They work tirelessly, and never complain about the various weather conditions they are faced with.

We grow 4 varieties of Kale, Tuscan, Green Curly and Red Curly, as well as Russian kale
We are Certified Organic market gardeners growing on a total of approximately 190 acres across 2 different farms. We became Certified Organic with ACO in 2010. Our home farm is located in Baxter, on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. We started farming on our other farm in Barham (Murray River, NSW) in March 2013.
We employ 18 full time staff and several casual and part time staff when required. We currently supply our produce to both local and interstate Wholesale Markets around Australia and have also done some export.
We grow our produce for Wholesale markets in Vic, NSW & Qld, supermarkets, Farmers Markets, small retail stores and our own FarmGate stores in Dandenong Market & Baxter.
Our aim is to grow a wide variety of quality Certified Organic produce with year round production on these lines, which we can achieve due to the multi-site farms we grow on. We regularly meet with our buyers to do our growing plans so that we can meet consumer demands.
We have a keen interest in plant nutrition and have developed a programme which is getting good results back to us with improved quality, consistency, appearance, taste and shelf life.
