About Us
Our Farm
At Peninsula Fresh Organics, we are proud to be Certified Organic market gardeners growing across four farms totalling approximately 330 acres. We became certified by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) in 2010, and have remained committed to the highest standards in organic farming ever since.
Our home farm is in Baxter, on Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula, and we expanded in 2013 to a second site in Barham, NSW, along the Murray River. This multi-site approach allows us to grow a wide variety of produce year-round, ensuring both seasonal diversity and consistency of supply.
Who We Supply
We grow and supply our fresh, Certified Organic produce to:
-
Wholesale markets in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland
-
Supermarkets
-
Our affiliated retail outlet, Peninsula Organic Farmgate
📍 94 Baxter-Tooradin Rd, Baxter
We’ve also proudly participated in export opportunities, sharing our premium Australian produce beyond local borders.
Our Team
We’re supported by a hardworking and passionate team of 40 full-time staff, along with casual and part-time team members when needed. Every person at Peninsula Fresh Organics plays a vital role in bringing the best possible produce to our customers.
Founders Wayne and Tash have personally selected each member of our team — not just for their skills, but for their commitment to our values of integrity, care, and quality.
Our Growing Philosophy
At the heart of our farming practice is a strong belief in soil and plant health. We’ve developed a dedicated plant nutrition program that continues to deliver outstanding results — improving the quality, consistency, taste, appearance, and shelf life of our produce.
We work closely with our wholesale buyers to develop crop plans that align with consumer demand, while staying true to our organic principles and sustainable growing practices.
Whether you’re picking up produce at our farmgate store or enjoying it across the country, you can trust that every crop is grown with care, responsibility, and a deep respect for the land.
Meet the team

Wayne Shields – Farmer/Owner/Director
Wayne started our farm from scratch in 2008 and has been managing our current business since its inception in 2010. He completed a horticultural apprenticeship in 1990 and has since worked on and managed several large Conventional Farms before moving to Organics. He is currently on the Chairman on the board for ACO (Australian Certified Organic) and an active member in Australian Organic Industries Working Groups. Wayne is responsible for overseeing all of our farms, co-ordinating production and directing our farm growth.
Natasha Shields – Owner/Farmgate & CEO
Tash started this company with Wayne in 2010. She came from an IT and retail logistics background but quickly became focussed on the Certified Organic produce they were growing and introduced the farm to local Farmers Markets around Melbourne. She was on the AAP (Accreditation Assessment Panel) for the VFMA (8 years) and is also a founding member of FIAB (Food Industry Advisory Body) for the Mornington Peninsula Shire and their new
Provenance Mark, MP Produce. She was awarded a Nuffield Farming scholarship in 2019.

Robert Astone – Operations Manager
Robbie has been with our Farm since July 2016. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge from both a growing and retail background. He is responsible for our farm and packing shed operations and co-ordinates all wholesale orders/logistics with a Nation-wide distribution. He is the point of contact for orders and dispatch.

The backbone of our field staff are full-time employees, giving us consistent operational methods and quality. Our staff are paid above-award wages and have been with us for many years. They work tirelessly, and never complain about the various weather conditions they are faced with.
